The twelve zodiac signs categorized under four elements- fire, earth, air, and water. Each of these elementary groups is believed to demonstrate distinct traits. Together, they lay the formation of the natural world, hence, they are dependent on each other in some of the other way. Let us take a look at each of the signs in detail and understand their individual entities:

Fire:

This sign is typically associated with spontaneity, inspiration, intuition, and passions. If you belong to the fire sign, you are likely to be excitable and impulsive. The fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Those with planets in fire signs generally exhibit sudden flashes of insight and gush of enthusiasm. Like fire itself, it is easy to set them up in flames, so to say, as in, inspiration gets them all flared up, heightening their passion about life.

They are put off by mundane chores and duties and are known to be pretty intuitive. They rely heavily on their gut instincts and have immense faith in this inner guidance, which often proves to be positively impactful. However, they tend to give a miss to crucial steps or often show a lack of awareness when it comes to the emotional effect of their actions.

Earth:

This element is attached to the signs Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. These individuals are generally practical, grounded, and dependable. They avoid taking significant risks and prefer certainty and security in life. You can completely count on them whenever need be, as they are heavily driven by a sense of duty, responsibility, and reliability. Caution and conservatism are also the fundamental values governing their actions, and they also manifest a logical mind, adopting a measured approach to everything in life.

Interestingly, they are also somewhat materialistic, and maybe more concerned about the destination only, rather than the journey itself, metaphorically speaking. Referred to as the ‘builders' of the zodiac, they are never daunted by the idea of getting dirt on their hands to create something beautiful. They are drawn towards the finer things of life. Also, they can be extremely persistent and stubborn.

Air:

Those belonging to this element are smart thinkers and are great at abstract reasoning. They have a keen inclination for analysis, synthesizing, and probing. Alert, curious, and perceptive, they are also very communicative. They are also usually very inventive and intelligent and can perceive all dimensions before taking a particular stand. Also, those influenced by the Air element are seen to be objective and cooperative, rather than being swayed by prejudices.

Their sparkling idealism lends a deeply humane side to their personality. Free-spirited and elusive despite being considered the “communicators” of the zodiac, air signs also have an adventurous and fun-loving nature. Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are the Air signs, showing all the traits mentioned above. Their decisions usually come from their head rather than being guided by sheer emotion.

Water:

The element of water is associated with the signs- Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. This element can well as described by the characteristics of water- fluid, and wavering. Being intuitive and sensitive, their feelings are usually more intense than others. Emotional and nurturing, their actions are based on sense, rather than logic or intellect. They also show a high degree of compassion and understanding, since the receptive side to them is reliable.

They have an inclination towards aesthetic beauty, emotions, and empathy. What can be termed as a drawback of this element is that water signs have a tendency to brood. They are susceptible to mood swings, and can often turn out to be self-indulgent and controlling. Some may call it psychic, but they often fall prey to a fantasy world, which in turn, enable them to see things more clearly than others.
